Case study: renovation of a warehouse building in Paris

Discover the results of the study on the renovation of a Warehouse building in Paris.

Key considerations for heating and cooling warehouses

Warehouses are spaces where efficiency and functionality take centre stage. A wide range of requirements must be considered: different processes such as loading and unloading goods, order picking, and dispatch all demand suitable temperature conditions. Another key factor is a practical and attractive interior design that makes logistics halls appealing as modern, efficient workplaces.
Sustainability also plays an important role. The use of advanced technical solutions helps to meet environmental standards while reducing operating costs in the long term. This makes logistics halls both economically and environmentally sustainable.

The results of the study on...

... Energy consumption

Findings of the study

The most energy-efficient heating system is radiant ceiling panels with heat pumps. These reduce energy consumption by up to 60 % compared to other systems. When using gas as an energy source, radiant ceiling panels with a gas boiler are the most efficient solution. Compared to a water unit heater, the use of radiant ceiling panels as heat emitters saves 25 % energy.

... Development of costs

Findings of the study

Ceiling-mounted radiant panels with heat pumps represent the highest initial investment. In contrast, gas heating units require the lowest upfront cost. However, in just under 11.5 years, the lower running costs of ceiling-mounted radiant panels with heat pumps offset their higher investment compared to gas heating units.

Over a 15-year lifespan, ceiling-mounted radiant panels with heat pumps can deliver savings of up to 59% compared to other heating systems. Radiant panels combined with gas boilers can still achieve savings of up to 48%.

...CO2 Emissions

Findings of the study

The heating system with the lowest CO₂ emissions is the ceiling-mounted radiant panel system combined with heat pumps. Compared to other systems, it can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 70%. In second place are ceiling-mounted radiant panels paired with gas boilers, which can achieve savings of up to 27%.
