Zehnder, Europe’s leading manufacturer and supplier of decorative radiators, pledges its support to the introduction of mandatory CE markings for radiators from 1st July 2013.
Currently a discretionary guideline, testing to EN442 requirements will become mandatory from the 1st July 2013, when all radiators for use on central heating sytsems will be required to be independently tested and their certified heat outputs published, before receiving the required CE marking for distribution and sale in the UK.
Commenting on the change in legislation Nigel Coston, Technical Director of Zehnder Group UK Ltd says; “As a responsible manufacturer and supplier of high quality radiators we are extremely pleased with the impending mandatory requirement for CE marking which necessitates certification to EN442.
Unfortunately not all suppliers currently publish outputs in accordance to EN442, particularly for low cost stainless steel towel radiators where outputs can be overstated to gain competitve advantage. This is not in the best interest of the end-user, who could find themselves with an under-sized product which could mean that comfort expectations are not met.”
Ahead of the changes Zehnder are pleased to confirm that all their radiators are already tested to EN 442 requirements and their published heat output figures are fully in line with the testing criteria; “Our aim is to provide reliability and precision at every stage of the design process and give specifiers and installers confidence in the sizing of radiators to avoid issues of under performance in operation” adds Nigel. “We also wish to assure consumers that the radiator will perform as stated.”
Offering attractive and stylish, traditional and contemporary radiators that complement any room, Zehnder radiators are available in a wide range of materials, finishes and sizes to suit all installation requirements.
