Dust problems

Dust is the general term for solid particles of less than 500 microns (μm). Dust is formed either by the mechanical breakdown of solid material; for example a truck's friction against a concrete floor, wear of machine parts and handling of cartons, or through combustion processes in welding fumes and diesel particles.

Dust can cause a number of different problems such as:

  • High and accelerating cleaning costs
  • Dirty products which lead to complaints, returns and, in the worst case scenario, loss of customers
  • Contaminated products
  • An inadequate working environment
  • Impaired corporate image
  • High frequency of breakdowns of machines and/or processes

In directives 1999/30/EC and 96/62/EC, the EU has established limit values for the maximum concentration of particles measuring 10 μm and less which may be present in outside air.

In most of our installations, the results we achieve are below these values, even for indoor industrial environments.

Zehnder Clean Air Solutions reduces airborne dust particles up to 90 % and provides a high hygiene standard. The impact on the products and goods by airborne germs, dust, dirt and micro-organisms is effectively eliminated.
